Interesting Facts On Venice
Venice is amazing and oozes charm, there’s no doubt about it. No other city has the same appeal. It’s definitely touristy and extremely crowded, but still should be visited at least once. Something about imagining yourself living life in a beautiful building overlooking the Grand Canal and using gondolas instead of cars is uber appealing! But I also learned some interesting facts on Venice during a recent trip. Gondoliers In Venice; Gotta Love ’em
Aside from the stately architecture sitting on the cool canals, a big part of Venice’s charm is its gondolas and their gondoliers. I was fascinated watching the gondoliers in Venice! They Make it Look So Easy The gondolas slide through the canals in Venice so effortlessly, but I’m sure it’s not as easy as for the gondoliers as it seems. I did see one gondolier that got his pole stuck on the outside of a bridge he just passed. He really had to struggle to get it free with the current pulling the gondola further away. Building Bridges Exhibit by Lorenzo Quinn
Venice is so beautiful, it’s a fantastic place to showcase artwork. There were a ton of art exhibits throughout the city when I was there. In fact, there were so many, I couldn’t begin to see them all. Lorenzo Quinns’ Building Bridges Art exhibit, however, was my favorite. I loved it, firstly for it’s uniqueness, but also for it’s visual impact and message. The exhibit opened in May, 2019 and was on display for 6 months. Building Bridges Exhibit The Exhibit and It’s Message The work features 6 sets of giant, human hands. They reach up towards the sky, almost 50′ high.
